Qxpress - Slow Service and Liars!

I've rant about Qxpress before, and told myself never to buy anything from sellers who ship via Qxpress again. Well, I'm stupid, and decided to give Qxpress another chance and they decide to chut pattern again.

Above is my shipment history. It states item has been delivered on May 25, 2014 21:55:28 which is yesterday, on a Sunday night. My office is CLOSED, and on weekends, there's no way you can come up the office without a key so who did he delivered to? Our resident ghost? And what freaking signature is "Send"? Obviously some DIY stunt the delivery man pulled. Called Qxpress office, and again, the same bullshit that they will investigate and revert within 72 hours. So I have to wait another 3 days because of someone who's not doing his work properly? I asked to speak to the compaint department or manager, and she told me there's none. well, I'll think so since they don't even dare to put their contact details on the web. Have you wondered why Qxpress never indicate any email or hotline number to call to track parcels or enquiries? They know they will be bombed with so many angry customers demanding to know where's their parcels!

Seriously, not sent just indicate undelivered. don't be a big liar and said delivered when you obviously hasn't.

Seriously, NO MORE QXPRESS! The lousiest shipping company ever!

And since I've received so many emails requesting for contact details of Qxpress, here it is. I got it from a seller when I filed for non-receipt.

Smoking in Lifts

Can someone please invent something that stops the lift (as in make it totally stop working) when it detects people smoking in the lift? I don't understand why people have to smoke in the lift? Are you so desperate for a puff that you can't wait till you're out, or finish your cigarettes before entering the lift? You have every right to kill yourself and smoke all you like, but you are depriving others from fresh air. Being in a lift is suffocating enough. Being in a lift filled with cigarettes smoke is just a killer.

Project Management @ Home

Fail to plan, plan to fail.
This old and famous saying is very real, regardless if at work or at home. After getting married and moving to my own abode, I realized the importance of planning and project management, even at home. This is important especially when I do not have a helper (and have no intention to have one, not even part-time).

In the beginning, I don't do much planning (after the whole day at work, the last thing I want is to use more brain!) and just try to do things as it comes along or when I see it, or remember about it. Then i realized it doesn't work. We end up "fire-fighting" and just let everyday activities push us along, neglecting the stuffs that we really need. Hence, time management and planning comes into the picture.

I'm thankful to be living in this digital age where everything is so handy. Wunderlist and Evernote has been my best friend. I love Wunderlist for it's ability to create lists (like categories), so I have a list for everyday to-dos, a list for groceries shopping etc (and starred the ones that are critical and must finish asap). If anything came up along the day that I need to buy or do, I make sure I note it down in my app immediately. This is very important, as I realized (at least for me), if I procrastinate and wait for later, I'll usually forget all about it, or remember only when it's too late. I'll just note everything that came into mind and at the end of the day I'll review it and prioritize it accordingly.

I'm really glad that right from the start (when we were still planning for the interior design of our house), my husband and I decides to go for a design that is simple to clean and maintain.

Which means,

  • as much as we love all those figurines and ornaments etc, either they go into the cupboards with glass doors or none at all (so we don't have to waste time brushing dust off the ornaments frequently, having to remove the ornaments one by one before we can give the surface a good wipe)
  • no funky furnishes/fixtures or whatsoever with lots of holes and carvings whatever which traps dusts easily and is so difficult to clean (having to go through the holes one by one).
  • we get furniture that either sits entirely on the floor (no holes between the bottom and the floor), or the hole must be big enough to clean easily (this was taught by a very nice SA at courts Simmons when we were looking around for a bed and he was teaching us the pros and cons of each bed frame.)
  • Keep the floors clean (reason like the above, so we do not have to waste time removing things off the floor when cleaning)
These must be one of our wisest decisions yet! The rate at which dust flies in and accumulate is alarming. Where do all these dusts come from? We could have clean up in the morning and by evening, we can see or feel the dusts again! And these dusts particles are amazing. They can get through every little holes that they can even get into the cupboards (but not so bad as if we keep things outside. at least we only have to clean like monthly or even quarterly). I'm looking at one of those robots cleaner that goes around and vacuum the house by itself. Looks like a great technology but I've read how they can get stuck in a corner etc. and it's not cheap. Anyone has good recommendations pls share!

Anyway, after some trial and error, I've also come up with some "timeline" or "project schedule" that seem to work for me (at least for now). The weekly "project" tasks includes vacuuming and mopping the floor, washing the clothes, washing the toilets, cleaning/wiping the tables etc. Monthly tasks like washing bedsheets, wiping the windows etc. Sound like very little stuffs, but trust me, these tasks will give you a good workout.

I only have weekends to do my housework (and I'm thankful my husband helps out with in the cleaning). and weekends are also time to go back to my parent's place, run errands, shopping, etc, so time is very precious which makes time management even more important. I do allow myself to sleep a little more on weekends but make sure I wake up by 10. After washing up, I'll leave some detergent in the toilet bowl to soak (to make it easier to clean later). after which I'll put the clothes in the washing machine to wash, before having my breakfast. After breakfast, I'll leave detergent to soak the common bathroom's toilet bowl, before proceeding to wash the master bedroom's bathroom. After I'm done, the clothes are usually done washing as well, so I can hang them up before proceeding to clean the common bathroom. In this way, I'm utilizing my time and working on a task every minute and not wasting time in "Waiting". I'm usually done by 1pm and out of the house by 2pm! :)

I think the sense of urgency and knowing exactly what I need to do is very important. Urgency in he sense that I know I need to complete my time by X time so that I can do the rest of my stuffs, like go over to my parent's place or run errands. Initially, I do not have all these planning, and I found myself watching Korean Dramas(or surfing the net, or whatever stuffs) while waiting for the clothes to wash, or laze around after breakfast or washing 1 bathroom. Things that are non-productive but very time consuming. At the end of the day, I found myself to feel that I've a busy day, yet accomplished little.

I'm still trying to improvise my timeline and schedule and see how I can maximize productivity yet not tire myself. This should be important as I've heard from friends that time is in serious shortage when kids comes along so I guess I'll need even better time management then! Better start early! :)

Qxpress - Lousy Service

I'm a huge fan of Qoo10. I especially love the time sales, and it makes me a very happy girl. A very efficient way to shop during office hours, and just wait for it to be delivered to my office. I love it that we can buy ANYTHING there, from clothes, skincare, makeup, even auntie stuffs like pots and pans!

However, recently, I feel like saying goodbye to Qoo10. perhaps it's time to really start understanding how taobao works and buy from there instead (i always find it so complicated that i dropped out before buying anything).

The main reason I'm leaving Qoo10 is the delivery. Most sellers ship via Qxpress which is really really HORRIBLE. The sellers usually ship their orders pretty quickly (within 1 or 2 days), but this horrible Qxpress usually takes around 2 weeks to deliver my purchase (and mind you, it's delivery within Singapore, not from Korea or something). In this case, I'll rather ship via Singpost Normal Mail. Why pay so much more for express/courier when they're so freaking inefficient? The worst part is they lied and update the status as "undelivered" in several cases when it's obviously untrue. My delivery address is to my office and there's a receptionist there at all times so how on earth is it that it's undelivered? I called their office this morning and they don't even sound apologetic about it, and say they will schedule for a resend in 3 working days. I have to remind them that I've been waiting for 2 weeks then she changed her language and said "ok..we'll deliver asap".

Well, sorry Qoo10. I guess as long as any delivery is made by Qxpress, I'll have to forgo the purchase since the delivery time is too painful.

Change

I woke up these few days feeling totally unmotivated and tired. i recognized this feeling. It's my soul telling me I'm bored.

Honestly, my life has been pretty action-pack lately. Work + Wedding + House Reno basically sums up my life now. Weekdays is all about work, work and more work. Weekends are filled with house-related activities. Feel like I've not have a rest for a long, long time, even though my last trip was not too long ago. I think I'm feeling drained. Physically and emotionally. With such activities-filled days everyday, i shouldn't have time to feel bored right? but I am. I'm bored. very very bored. I probably sound contradicting, but I'm really bored. House and Wedding stuffs are pretty interesting so far. I think the main thing that is boring me is work. another contradicting thing is I'm in one of the most interesting industry around; Advertising. how boring can it get right? and I'm one of the fortunate ones to be working on more than 1 accounts, and across different industries (think automobile to beauty), so work should be fun and exciting? sure, the accounts are fun, but I'm bored with what I'm doing. it's been in my mind for the longest time if I should leave advertising and work on something else. but the question comes down to: so what should I be doing if I leave advertising?

I need a change. Perhaps, a change in environment? a change in role? or a change in industry? perhaps, I should consider going to the client side? or do something totally new all together?

Right now. the only thing i know is I want to run away. My problem is I don't know where.

Wedding Preps & House Reno

People have always been warning me to avoid doing house renos and wedding preps concurrently. Both are one of the biggest projects in your life, and takes up resources, TIME & MONEY. Juggling both is no joke, and despite drawing timelines and trying to project manage these 2 projects, I'm finding it hard to breathe.

Knowing our keys will come in June, I make sure bulk of the wedding preps (like bridal studio hunt, photographer etc) are done before that as I'm sure it will be a killer searching for bridal studios and interior designers at the same time. I'm glad I kept to this timeline, as ever since we got keys to our apartment, every weekend has been packed with house-related activities (space planning, looking and talking to ID and contractors). Weekends just flew and before i know it, I'm back at work. phew!

Gangnam Style is out. So is Harlem Shake. The latest sensation is Gwiyomi. But I really think you should attempt this only if you are young and cute. :X

If you have no idea what is Gwiyomi, take a look at the video below:

Successful VS Unsuccessful People

so..where do you fall under, based on the indicators? :)
Well, looking at the list, there's alot of things I need to work on to be more successful.

Angelina Jolie

I love this woman.
She's gorgeous, with a big big heart.
