Smoking in Lifts

Can someone please invent something that stops the lift (as in make it totally stop working) when it detects people smoking in the lift? I don't understand why people have to smoke in the lift? Are you so desperate for a puff that you can't wait till you're out, or finish your cigarettes before entering the lift? You have every right to kill yourself and smoke all you like, but you are depriving others from fresh air. Being in a lift is suffocating enough. Being in a lift filled with cigarettes smoke is just a killer.
