Bangkok: Maeklong Railway Market

We'll be spending about a week in Bangkok. As such, on top of the usual temples, shopping and massage, we decide to visit some places we've never visited.

On our trip 2 years back, one of our most memorable visit was to the Maeklong Railway Market as well as to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market . My dad saw this place on some travel shows and it went into one of his to-do places. The interesting thing about the Maeklong Railway Market, is that the market are built along the railway. Whenever the train pass by, the stall owners will keep the tent for the train to pass by. Some stall owners do not even bother to keep their goods and the vegetables, fishes etc that they are seeing are sitting right below the train when it past!

It's become quite a touristy spot. Everyone waiting for the train's arrival. Note the tents are still in place.

Train is moving closer so the tents are being kept.

The train pass by! It really just brush past you!

The journey from Bangkok City to Maeklong Railway Market is abit long (can't remember exact time but I remember it took us > 1 hour to reach there). However, I'll strongly recommend you to visit this place if you have time as it's quite an experience, and something you will never ever experience in Singapore.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in another post! :)
